Figure Drawing was Assembly Theatre's first ever fully devised production. An ensemble met at libraries and apartments to read each other's poetry, do viewpoints exercises, and play improv games. Director Emil Ginter took the material home after each session and did some expanding and arranging, to which the ensemble would respond again with more writing, theater exercises, and scenes. The result after ten workshops is a thoughtful, poetic exploration of the way we perceive the world in relation to one another.
